Our Caregivers

Lighthouse's exceptional in-home elder care enhances quality of life, preserves dignity, and brings peace of mind to families throughout the North Bay and Bay Area. Our unique approach to elder care sets us apart, bringing the warmth and family-centered values of Fijian culture to every home we visit. We believe that genuine care goes beyond physical assistance—it's about creating lasting, meaningful connections with your family and honoring the dignity of each person we serve.

Dedicated & Qualified Caregivers

Each of our expert caregivers is licensed, insured, qualified, and responsible for the position to which they are assigned. Depending on client needs, we provide non-medical home care from licensed and insured home care aides, licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).

We ensure all of our caregivers meet stringent requirements:

  • Licensed by CA to perform non-medical in-home care
  • Thorough pre-placement screening, including personal interviews, comprehensive reference checks, skills assessment, DMV report, and auto insurance verification
  • Possess significant experience, ranging from 5 to over 20 years experience in caregiving
  • Have a minimum of six months caregiving experience within the past two years, documented by references on file with the Agency available by request
  • Current CPR and TB certification

About Una

Una Vanua, Executive Director

As a prior hospice nurse with extensive experience in elder care, Una brings a deep understanding of the unique needs of seniors and their families. Her vision led to the founding of Lighthouse Elder Care Agency, with the goal of delivering compassionate and personalized in-home care to the North Bay and Bay Area communities.

Before care begins, Una personally visits and talks to the family in the elder's home to discuss specific needs, assess the home environment, and collaborate with healthcare providers. This personalized approach ensures that each care plan is tailored to the unique needs of every client.
