Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about in-home elder care in the North Bay and Bay Area? These are the most common inquiries about our services, care process, and what sets Lighthouse Elder Care apart.
When should I call Lighthouse Elder Care for help?
You should consider calling Lighthouse Elder Care when you or your loved one needs additional support, whether it's for age-related safety or mobility concerns, medical recovery, or simply when family members are feeling exhausted. If your loved one requires assistance with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or medication management, or if you're concerned about their well-being at home, we're here to provide expert, compassionate care.
Additionally, we offer respite services to give family caregivers a much-needed break, ensuring both the patient and their loved ones receive the support they deserve. Whether it's a short-term need or long-term care, we're here to help.
What is the initial process for starting care with your agency??
We require at least 24 hours' notice before care begins. Our Executive Director, Una, personally conducts an in-home visit to meet with the family and the elder before care begins. his allows us to thoroughly understand their specific needs and assess the home environment, as well as collaborate with healthcare providers as needed. This personalized approach ensures we create a tailored care plan and can carefully select caregivers who perfectly match your loved one's needs.
Do you provide care in locations other than the client's home?
We strongly believe in providing care in familiar surroundings. We provide after-surgery care and will visit your loved one in post-surgery rehab to help them transition back home. Beyond that, all of our care is in-home care. We prefer not to relocate clients to different environments, as consistency and familiarity are important aspects of elder wellbeing.
What distinguishes Lighthouse Elder Care from other elder care agencies?
Lighthouse Elder Care offers a unique combination of professional caregiving expertise and the deeply rooted values of Fijian culture. Our approach emphasizes not only skilled care but also genuine compassion, respect for elders, and the importance of treating clients like family. This cultural foundation allows our caregivers to build meaningful connections and provide a level of personalized care that goes beyond standard services in the area.
How are caregivers matched with clients?
We carefully consider personality, care needs, and scheduling requirements when matching caregivers with clients. Una personally oversees this process to ensure a good fit, which contributes to more effective care and stronger relationships between caregivers and clients.
Can you work with doctors and other healthcare providers?
Absolutely. We prioritize coordination with your loved one's healthcare team. With your permission, we can communicate with doctors, physical therapists, and other providers to ensure continuity of care.
